Who is

Why I share my experience with finances.

Hey there! I’m K., a thirty-something freelance writer and consultant based in California. I’ve been writing my whole life, but didn’t get into personal finance until a couple years ago. Read here for a little more about why I share my experience with finances.

Other than writing, one of my favorite pastimes is traveling. You can find me taking random trips at any given time, to places like Kansas City, Denver, Hawaii, and New Orleans.

My goal in blogging is to give a different perspective on finance. One that covers more than budgeting and saving for retirement. Don’t get me wrong – those things are important. Still, I believe there is much more involved in the journey to financial stability.

In my early 20s, I thought financial stability meant a degree, a house, and a “good job.” Those beliefs resulted in me going to a fancy private school and accruing tons of student loans, beating myself up for not owning a home by 30, and chasing after jobs that ultimately made me miserable.

After a lot of trial and error, I realized financial stability doesn’t come from forcing yourself into a neat little box. It’s less about doing all the things you “think” you should do, and more about doing what works for you and aligning your goals accordingly.

I spent way too much time chasing dreams that weren’t my own. Now I want to help others avoid the same mistakes and learn to enjoy life sooner rather than later.

Aside from personal finance, I also enjoy writing about topics related to career and diversity. You can check out a couple of those pieces here and here.

I’m happy you took out the time to learn more about me. If you like what you read, be sure to leave a comment, subscribe, or shoot me an email at moneythewrightway(at)gmail.com! 🙂
